WiFi Manager provides a single console for managing wired
as well as wireless local area networks and boosts IT productivity
by eliminating the need to login multiple network management
applications. Compared to other WLAN management offerings
in market WiFi Manager provides a single console for discovery,
visualization, fault/performance monitoring, and reporting
of wired and wireless devices. It also supports configuration
of multi-vendor
access points.
Discovery
WiFi Manager scans networks for access points, routers, switch,
servers, printers, desktops, and other networked devices.
Discover your network in minutes using intuitive wizard or
using the HTML interface. WiFi Manager employs the following
techniques to discover the wired and wireless devices.
- ICMP discovery Scan the network using designated
IP address range.
- SNMP discovery Scan the network for SNMP enabled
devices.
- Telnet/ CLI Scan the network for Telnet/CLI enabled
devices.
- AP scan Scan the network using the AP Scan functionality
in access points.
- RF scan Scan the network using hardware RF sensors
Fault management
WiFi Manager provides detailed network availability and performance
monitoring. In-built functionality allows users to ping each
device, check status, set thresholds, receive traps, enable
or disable alarms, and check status of services such as Web,
E-mail, Oracle, MySQL, echo, exchange, FTP, finger, imap,
Ldap, MsSQL, nntp, Telnet, Weblogic etc. Core fault management
capabilities of WiFi Manager include:
- Availability monitoring ensure availability of
all networked devices.
- Capacity monitoring compare utilization levels
with set thresholds.
- RF monitoring - check for signal strength, noise levels,
& active sessions.
- WLAN traffic monitoring analyze 802.11 traffic
by frame type and speed.
- Wired traffic monitoring monitor the Tx Rx traffic
for switches, routers and other critical devices.
- Automated alerting set email notifications and
get alerted when fault occurs.
Inventory
WiFi Manager provides a unified view of wired as well as wireless
network inventory. Users can view the number of devices in
each category, their status, and values for key parameters
in the very first page of device view. WiFi Manager allows
users to add/delete networks and devices. Networks thus added
are shown in graphical mode with drill-down functionality
allowing the users to explore what each network contains.
Core inventory related capabilities of WiFi Manager include:
- Sortable list view of devices view various device
categories such as access points, mobile clients, sensors,
AAA servers, routers, switches, servers, printers, and desktops.
- Drilldown view of networks view all the wired and
wireless networks and drill down to the device level.
- Add devices / networks provide the IP/ IP range
of devices to add them into WiFi Manager. You can also provide
an entire network to be discovered.
Reports
WiFi Manager provides detailed trending as well as live reports
for both wireless and wired networks. Core reporting capabilities
of WiFi Manager include:
- Association reports see who is connected in your
WLAN and for how long.
- Association history reports track the association
history of your mobile users as well as access points.
- Security reports check your wireless devices' authenticity
and how many are rogue, and see your SSIDs level of
security.
- Availability reports check the availability of
your devices and their multiple interfaces (such as radio
and Ethernet as in case of AP).
- Utilization reports notice your most utilized devices
as well as degraded/under utilized devices.
- Error reports check wireless and wired network
errors that affect your network performance.
- Radio reports see how your network behaves for
RF related parameters such as signal quality, noise level,
channel usage etc.
- AP Inventory reports get quick view on how many
access points you have from each vendor and how many are
a/b-or-g/dual.
