Prerequisites for monitoring QLogic SANBox Switches
Ensure SNMP agent is running in the QLogic SANbox Switch. To view the SNMP settings
Use the QLogic Switch telnet command "show setup snmp".
For any changes use "set setup snmp".
OpStor uses snmp port 161 and read community 'public' for discovery. If your settings are different , please provide the same in the OpStor web-client while adding Switch.
Register OpStor server IP address as a snmp trap destination for the QLogic Switch
Note : For more details refer QLogic Switch Management User’s Guide

Provide snmp port and community string (default is 161 and public)
In today's fast-growing Internet age, storage administration has become a very crucial role for every Storage Administrator.
OpStor brings together in a single console, fault management, performance management & inventory management of multi-vendor storage devices. Map views of the different devices and their interconnectivity give an overall view of the Storage environment to the Storage Administrator who can drill-down from these to view device specific performance and availability reports. Apart from assisting in the everyday tasks of assigning new storage and making sure continuous availability of data, OpStor also provides a sound notification system with device-specific alarms. Alarms can be configured with multiple thresholds to set different alarm severities & notifications sent by Email or SMS to be acted upon before costly downtime occurs.

The number and types of storage devices keep increasing as the organization and its number of workforce increases. It is said that in a year the storage administrator will roughly add 52% more storage and refresh 38% of the current infrastructure (source: SNIA S10-200). Before you know it, the organization will have myriad vendor devices and keeping everything centralized, organized and running in perfect order will prove to be a gargantuan task.
OpStor is a storage management tool that supports management of multi-vendor SAN Switches, RAID, Tape Libraries, Host Servers and HBAs. Apart from the instantaneous reports on performance and availability of each device on the storage network, important statistics such as Mean Time Between Failures over a monthly/weekly/daily time period keep the Storage Manager aware of his team's effectiveness in achieving minimum downtime.
The Events and Alarm notifications in OpStor allow for easy strategizing & assigning of Storage faults. Each alarm is acknowledged by an administrator who can then see to the problem, add notes for future reference and then change severity of the alarm once corrective action is taken. Unattended alarms for each device type can be escalated to email addresses. Daily and weekly critical alarm reports are scheduled and emailed for offline record and analysis. Problem tickets for each device can also be provided through the OpStor Web Interface so as to have appropriate action be taken to resolve faults.
