A) SSSU Installation Instructions
-
OpStor uses SSSU (Storage System Scripting Utility) available as part of HP StorageWorks Windows Kit for Enterprise Virtual Array installation.
- This needs to be installed in the server where OpStor is installed and running and is available at
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp? prodNameId=1833644&lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=471497&taskId=135
- Ensure that SSSU.exe (version 4.0) is included in the PATH Environment variable where OpStor is installed.
- You can check this by executing SSSU.exe in a command prompt which will print the version.
Note : In case the current SSSU version is higher (say 5.0), then you need to download
SSSU.exe (Version 4.0) and include it as part of the Environment PATH variable
Please follow the steps below,
- Open the HP software download URL, HP Software Download Page
- Click on HP StorageWorks Command View EVA V4.0 Media Kit.
- This will launch a page which lists the supported Operating Systems
- Choose the operating system corresponding to the server running OpStor (Example: Windows 2003)
- From this download the SSSU utility for the respective OS
Steps to add the HP EVA in OpStor (using SSSU)
------------------------------------------------------------------
- Restart OpStor (shutdown & start).
- This is required for the Environment PATH settings to take effect.
- In the OpStor client go to Admin Tab ->Manage Storage Devices
- Select CLI option
- In this specify IP Address , username, password in the respective fields of CLI
where,
IP Address - IP address of the HP Management Appliance that is managing the HP EVA array
username - username for the HP Command View EVA administrator account
password - password for the HP Command View EVA administrator account
- Click Add Device to add the HP EVA Array
|
B) EVA SMI Provider Installation Instructions
-
OpStor uses the HP SMI-S EVA Provider (SNIA standard) to monitor the HP EVA (Command View EVA version 6.0 and above)
The HP SMI-S EVA Provider is integrated with Command View EVA
- HP SMI-S Support Matrix document available at http://h18006.www1.hp.com/storage/smis-matrix.html
- Ensure that EVA firmware version is compatible with the installed SMI-S provider.
- Check the service hp StorageWorks SMI-S CIMOM is listed in Windows Services of the Command View EVA Host
- Now start the service
Steps to add the HP EVA in OpStor (using SMI-S)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
- Ensure that SMI provider is properly started and is listed in Windows Services Panel
- Restart OpStor (shutdown & start). This is required for the Environment PATH settings to take effect.
- In the OpStor client go to Admin Tab ->Manage Storage Devices
- Select SMI option
- In this specify IP Address , username, password in the respective fields of SMI
where,
IP Address - IP of the server in which the EVA Provider service is started
username - username of EVA provider administrator account
password - password of EVA provider administrator account
- Click Add Device to add the HP EVA Array

C) EVA Perf Installation Instructions
-
For Performance monitoring, evaperf utility needs to be installed in the server running OpStor and included environment PATH variable.
-
Ensure that the installed EvaPerf utility is compatible with EVA firmware version.

- Check that evapdcs (EVA Performance Data Collection Service) is installed along with evaperf execute the command Command : evapdcs -v
- If it prints "evapdcs is currently installed", you may check its startup status in the Windows Services menu.
This service is registered as HP EVA Performance Data Collector.
- If the status is "disabled", it indicates that it is in an improper state
- Restart the host server once and then
check whether the service is properly registered
- If the command prints "evapdcs not installed", kindly install evapdcs via the following command
Command : evapdcs -i -m
- To register the server running OpStor to the HP Command View EVA server
Command : evaperf fnh [hostname] [username] [password]
where,
hostname - CVE host name
username - CVE username
password - CVE password
- OpStor uses EVA name (known as friendly name in EVA terminology) to issue evaperf commands.
- For this the EVA name - WWN mapping needs to be registered via
Command : evaperf fn
- If the EVA Array is password protected, then EVA password needs to be registered with the respective EVA WWN using
Command : evaperf spw array_WWN array_Password
- To check if evaperf is able to fetch peformance data execute the following command from <OpStor Install Dir> directory,
Command : evaperf all -sz <EVA Name> -csv -nots
This will print all the EVA performance statistics (for Array, VDisk , Disk etc)
A sample output looks similar to one below
----------------------------------------------------
CPU %,Data %,Ctlr,Serial,Node
82,81,A,V8398ADVBP2003,5065-1FD1-5021-8781
94,99,B,V8398ADVHV200D,5060-1FF1-5031-8582
-
Installation details for evaperf are available in the HP StorageWorks Command View EVA installation guide

C) OpStor Remote Proxy Option
-
This is required only if OpStor is not installed in Command View EVA machine, and evaperf installed in OpStor server is not working properly.
Steps to run the Proxy Install in Command View machine
--------------------------------------------------------------------
-
Please make sure that evaperf is included in PATH environment variable before installing the proxy zip
-
Download jopstorproxy.zip available at
http://download.adventnet.com/products/opstor/35476405/jproxyservice.zip
- Unzip the proxy service zip (jproxyservice.zip). It will create a set of files under the directory jproxyservice.
- Open a command prompt and go to directory jproxyservice/
- Open wrapper.conf
- JRE is generally available in Windows servers under c:\Program Files\Java directory.
- Set the path of java bundled as part of JRE to the wrapper.java.command property.
For example,
If the path is "c:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_04\bin\java", set the property value as follows,
wrapper.java.command=c:\Progra~1\Java\j2re1.4.2_04\bin\java
Note :
a. Specify JRE 1.4.2 and higher versions
b. In the above, "Program Files" is to be abbreviated as Progra~1
- Save the wrapper.conf after making the changes
- Run ProxyService.bat -i to install and register the proxy as a windows service
- Run ProxyService.bat -t to start the proxy service
Other service options available are
-----------------------------------------
a) ProxyService.bat -p to stop the service
b) ProxyService.bat -r to remove the service
In addition, you can also start and stop ProxyService by selecting AdventNetProxyService under
MS Windows Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->Services option
