Adding A Device

 

After the initial discovery, you can use 'Manage Storage Devices --> Add Device' option in the 'Admin' tab, to add a new device.

 

Note: Only ‘Admin’ users can add device(s).

 

To add a Device, follow these steps:

  1. Click the ‘Admin’ tab in the OpStor client.

  2. Select ‘Manage Storage Devices’ option.

  3. Enter the IP address of the new device.

  4. Several options are listed for managing the device. Please follow the instructions below to choose appropriate option. Refer to device specific discovery prerequisite document as well before adding a device for discovery.

    1. None : Choose this option always unless otherwise specified in prerequisite document. This will take default parameters for device discovery.

    2. SNMP: Choose this option if your device SNMP settings are different from 161 port and 'public' community.

    3. CLI : Choose this option if your device is managed via CLI by OpStor as specified in prerequisite document. Provide username/password parameters for loggin purpose.

    4. Proxy : Choose this option if your device is managed by OpStor by using opstor-proxy as specified in prerequisite document. Provide Proxy IP address.

    5. Custom Add : Choose this option to add any device not supported by OpStor per se. You need to provide device type and model information. OpStor will just add the device IP for monitoring purpose. Ping / Snmp Ping will be carried out for periodic statuspoll. Any SNMP traps coming from the device will be associated with the added device IP>
  5. Click ‘Add Device’ button.

The device is added and a confirmation message is shown. Table below shows the discovered device. You can click on the device link to navigate to device properties page. If link is not available or broken, then partial discovery might have happenned. Please contact support@opstor.com with logs.
