In simple terms, desktop management is a pain. You need to do the following in any random order 24 hours and 365 days year-after-year for literally thousands of desktops.

• patch them periodically so that they don't turn vulnerable to attacks
• audit them for software and hardware assets to have an up-to-date record of where is what
• track the assets to know if they are intact or anything has been removed or stolen or added
• clean them up (internally) periodically so that they don't choke with too many temp files
• enforce security settings such as write protecting USB devices or disabling a drive etc
• install software if someone wants it
• maintain the licenses of the installed software and ensure compliance
• look out if anyone has installed any prohibited software
• remove the prohibited software
• change internet settings based on policies
• change proxy settings
• configure Windows firewall if a new application requires specific ports to be opened
• schedule few tasks for periodic execution (such as backup)

• Standardization: Key settings such as power management, firewall settings, registry settings can be standardized across thousands of desktop/ laptops in one click. Templates enable you to feed settings once and apply to several desktops at once.
• Control: Security settings such as disabling USB drive access, disabling control panel, disabling CD drives etc can be achieved using security policies in MSP Center Plus. These policies work similar to templates and can be applied to several desktops at once.

Agent-Server Architecture

MSP Center Plus follows an agent-server architecture model where individual agents installed in every managed desktop/laptop/server communicate back to the central via a secure https link. These agents neither run as a service nor they occupy any ports. They contact the central server every 90 minutes and look up for any commands for them. They will execute the commands, if any, and send back the data to central server.
